Before its official opening we have secured a limited numbers tour of the highly anticipated Beecroft Building at 6:00pm on Wednesday 11th April 2018.

The site visit will give you an opportunity to explore the brand new, yet to be occupied, research facility for the University of Oxford, Department of Physics.  The Beecroft Building is a state of the art working space for theorists and high-tech laboratories for experimentalists.

This building consists of:

·         Office, seminar and breakout spaces encircling a stunning feature balustrade within the atrium.

·         5 underground basement levels (16m deep) containing experimental physics laboratory space including:

o    A number of different laboratory types have been provided including close control laser laboratories that require temperature stability of +/- 0.1 ̊C.

o    STM scanning microscope laboratories that require highly sensitive acoustic and vibration control.

·         The whole building is linked to the existing Clarendon Laboratory at three levels with views over University Parks.

The Department of Physics are hoping to utilise the facility to develop the next generation of trapped ion quantum ‘supercomputers’. If you would like to find out more, join the tour!

We will be meeting outside of the Beecroft Building on Parks Rd, Oxford OX1 3PJ at 5:55pm and the tour aims to start promptly at 6:00pm.
