Event description

Following our national research project with leading schools and higher education institutions, we have been exploring the question “How can the physical environment positively influence student and staff wellbeing?” We want to understand the impact architecture can have on wellbeing and mental health, and to improve mental health and wellbeing for end users.

ADP believe architecture has the power to make the world a more positive place – for people, for communities and for the environment. So we exist to create more joy in our world. Alongside commercial metrics, this is how we measure the success of any project.

Our starting point is sustainability, and designing for the long-term benefit of the people and environments impacted by a space. This creates the basis for a true sense of belonging for the people who will use it, and the opportunity to connect meaningfully with both the place and with others who share it. We also design spaces that people can engage with in a way that can fuel their learning, creativity and optimism. We see these ingredients – sustainability, belonging and engagement – as the building blocks of joy.

ADP is an employee-owned architectural practice founded more than 50 years ago. We now work from nine locations across the UK, Cyprus and India to create spaces that are inspired by people.
