Webinar - Blockchain & Construction

on

18th May 12.30pm

by

Dr George Blumberg – Oxford Brookes University, School of the Built Environment

This talk is designed to explain how Blockchains (also referred to as digital ledger technology or DLT) work.  Blockchains are best known as the enabling technology behind cryptocurrencies. These have captured the public imagination by magically seemingly creating wealth out of thin air.

DLTs have many potential applications in other areas of construction and the built environment, notably in a platform role in managing the data used to power smart cities.

The talk will help illuminate useful applications and help expand understanding of how these systems are being used today and what they might be used for in the near future.

Speaker:

George is a Senior Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Built Environment.  Current research is focused on the components necessary to fulfill the Smart City concept where infrastructure is built from the data up.
